Obiettivi formativi

The first-year German language course forms the basis of the linguistic education of the three-year curriculum.

Students will learn the main linguistic phenomena of the German language not only from a theoretical, but also from a practical point of view. The theoretical in-depth analysis and the use of a technical metalinguistic terminology do not correspond to a mere mnemonic exercise; instead, they will always be functional to the practical application in the actual linguistic use: knowing and recognising the underlying logic to the linguistic phenomena underpinning the German language will allow students to develop awareness of the language use and will help them learn new and more complex rules in the following years.

Learning descriptive metalinguistic categories will furthermore allow students to draw a more precise and thorough comparison between the mechanisms of the German and Italian language, thus introducing a contrastive perspective, which will be most surely useful for the future mediator or translator.

Risultati dell'apprendimento attesi

a) riconoscere e comprendere a livello teorico il funzionamento delle norme fonologiche, morfologiche e sintattiche del tedesco discusse a lezione, anche in confronto e contrasto con le norme dell'italiano;

b) saper riflettere su tali fenomeni anche in tedesco, utilizzando la terminologia appresa durante il corso;

- padroneggiare una corretta pronuncia del tedesco (fonetica / fonologia);
- declinare correttamente articoli, pronomi, aggettivi, sostantivi e verbi (morfologia);
- costruire frasi corrette (sintassi).

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

a) recognise and understand theoretically the functioning of the phonological, morphological and syntactic rules of the German language, which were dealt with during the course, also in comparison with the rules of the Italian language;

b) reflect on those phenomena also in German, using the terminology learnt during the course;

c) apply the linguistic phenomena which were dealt with during the course in practice, that is:
- have a good command of the correct pronunciation of German (phonetics/phonology);
- correctly decline articles, pronouns, adjectives, substantives and verbs (morphology);
- build correct sentences (syntax).

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento

Esame scritto con domande chiuse e semiaperte.

L’esame scritto verterà sugli argomenti affrontati a lezione.

Written exam with closed and half-open questions.

The written exam will concern the topics discussed during the course. Hier some examples of possible questions: exercises in which students will have to recognise the phonological peculiarities of the German language, also in comparison with Italian; morphological analysis of the parts of speech noun, verb and adjective; analysis of the main processes of word formation and loanword phenomena; analysis of the German sentence through the scheme of the “Felderanalyse” and of the verb valency.

Note

Su start.unito.it è disponibile una versione digitale dell'insegnamento.

Students with a German language certificate corresponding to the level A2 or more of the Common European Framework can have it recognized (by the end of October) and they will be able to enrol directly in the second-year practical German classes (“Lettorato del secondo anno”). The dates in which the language certificates can be recognised will be published on the website of the practical German classesin September.

The “lettorati” (practical German classes) are annual courses. In order to attend students must pre-enrol (online, on the “lettorati”-website). At the beginning of October, the timetable of the lessons will be published and the actual (online) enrolment procedure will be activated.

We kindly remind you that the “lettorati” are a service and that the enrolment in one “lettorato” implies mandatory attendance and active participation. In order to be considered attending students and to get the internal mark of the practical German classes, also called “Lektoratsnote”, students should attend at least 70% of the course, actively take part in the lessons and do their homework. The mere attendance does not automatically grant the right to have an internal “lettorato”-mark. Those who do not have the internal “lettorato”-mark will have to take the oral part of the “lettorato”-exam. The oral exam can be taken after passing the written part. For each academic year three written and three oral exams are planned. Further information about the exam system and programmes can be found on the website of the practical German classes: https://www.lingue.unito.it/do/home.pl/View?doc=Lettorati/tedesco.html.

On start.unito.it a digital version of the course is available.
