Obiettivi formativi
The course is aimed primarily at meeting the training needs of future teachers of foreign languages and literature in the secondary school environment.
In particular, it has a focus on the dynamics of contemporary intercultural and plurilingual communication as a way to enhance teaching and learning, with the aim of
- Acquiring specialist knowledge of the cultural traditions and linguistic aspects of ESL/EFL
- Possessing the necessary knowledge of the history and civilisation of the countries and areas in which these cultures have developed in order to create activities for students
- Knowing how to apply the information and multimedia supports and ICTs to the process of teaching and learning a foreign language

At the end of the course students will be able to deal with methodologies and techniques for teaching languages.
In particular,
a) Knowledge and understanding: students must know the main teaching methodologies developed in the language teaching research, with reference to the specific role of the teacher, to the concepts, epistemology, and theory of language teaching and learning.
b) Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: students must be able to design and develop teaching activities using the principles and methodologies typical of language teaching, also taking into account the needs of language enhancement and consolidation.
c) Making judgments: students must be able to identify and classify errors of interference, of analogy, of overextension.
d) Communication skills: students must be able to discuss syllabuses, to clearly and effectively explain the main rules that govern the language, and the characteristics of mistakes made by learners
e) Learning skills: students must be able to orient themselves in the bibliography and to deepen theoretical and practical elements- Oggetto:

Modalità di insegnamento
Lectures with be scaffolded by power point support, videos, websites surfing, and use of corpora.
Seminars with experts, and a series of practical lessons aimed at creating a language lesson plan and other activities will be part of the course.
All the materials used in class will be available on the Moodle page of the course.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Since a visiting professor will be in charge of part of the course, he/she will assign a didactic project and a series of activities that will be evaluated (details will be uploaded on the moodle webpage). A series of articles will be uploaded on moodle for non attending students.
The contents of the assigned book will be tested orally (language: English).
ASSESSMENT parameters.
Oral exam: ability to discursively organise knowledge; ability to critically reason about the study undertaken; quality of exposition - competence in the use of specialist vocabulary, effectiveness, linearity.
Project: ability to include theoretical background in the practical work; originality and creativity; feasibility (level of the students, timing, equipment); coeherence of the proposal and structure.
