Obiettivi formativi
L'insegnamento si propone di fornire a studenti e studentesse una panoramica di base sulla situazione sociolinguistica del mondo arabo, con particolare riferimento alla condizione di diglossia e pervasiva dialettofonia che lo caratterizza. Saranno affrontati tanto questioni strutturali specifiche (relative a fonologia, morfologia, ecc. di diversi dialetti arabi) che questioni più generali di natura sociolinguistica.
The course will offer the students an introduction to the sociolinguistic situation of the Arabic-speaking world. In particular, the themes of diglossia and dialectophony will be addressed, with in-depth analyses of the linguistic structure of several different varieties of spoken Arabic.

Al termine dell'insegnamento, studenti e studentesse saranno in grado di riconoscere i tratti fonologici e grammaticali che contraddistinguono alcune delle principali varietà dialettali del mondo arabofono, e in generale avranno acquisito gli strumenti necessari ad approcciarsi, tradurre ed eventualmente trascrivere un testo in arabo parlato.
Students will learn how to recognize the various phonological, grammatical and syntactical traits that set the various dialects of Arabic apart. They will also learn how to approach, transcribe and translate spoken Arabic texts.

Nel corso delle lezioni saranno analizzati materiali audio o audiovisivi autentici provenienti da diverse realtà del mondo arabofono. Il docente fornirà detti materiali corredati di trascrizione e traduzione, oltre a una serie di slide relative ai temi teorici affrontati in classe.
Students will analyze original authentic texts produced in different areas of the Arabic-speaking world. These materials will be provided by the teacher along with the relevant transcriptions and translations, and power-point slides dealing with the main grammatical aspects of the varieties examined.

L'insegnamento sarà frontale e rigorosamente in presenza. La frequenza non è obbligatoria ma fortemente raccomandata, considerata la complessità dei temi trattati. I materiali del corso saranno forniti dal docente nel corso delle lezioni (non ci sarà un testo ufficialmente adottato).
