Obiettivi formativi
ll laboratorio mira ad esporre gli studenti a glie eventi ed istituzioni della sortia statunitensi. L'insegnamento svilupperà le capacità di lettura, analisi e rielaborazione critica dei testi storici, fonti primari e secondari. Particolare attenzione sarà dedicata alla divulgazione pratica delle conoscenze acquisite: gli studenti impareranno tecniche di interpretazione e saranno introdotti ai modi e alle forme della scrittura accademica.
This laboratory class aims to expose students to the historical events and institutions of the United States of America. Students will learn to develop skills in reading, analyzing, and critically engaging with historical texts, both primary and secondary sources. Particular attention will be paid to practical knowledge: students will learn specific techniques of interpretation and be introduced to appropriate forms and qualities of academic writing.

Questo insegnamento sviluppa abilità di pensiero critico, studio autonomo, iniziativa e capacità organizzative. Attraverso presentazioni frontali, discussioni in classe e studio individuale dei testi primari e secondari, gli studenti acquisiranno strumenti critici e analitici per cominciare comprendere la storia e la cultura statunitense. Al termine del laboratorio, gli studenti saranno in grado di un saggio secondo le convenzioni della scrittura accademica.

Al termine del corso, gli studenti dovranno poi consegnare un saggio accademico su vari argomenti basati nella interpretazione di fonti primari scelti dal professore.

The 1960s and "The Sixties": Sex, Drugs & Rocknroll vs. War, Crime, Terrorism and Assassination
This class has two major components. The first is a period of American history, presented as a body of factual knowledge that students must learn. The second is practical, an examination of how that knowledge is constituted. In every lesson, students, working together, will analyze historical texts, learning specific strategies of interpretion of primary and secondary sources and how to use those sources to construct a historical narrative and support an academic thesis. Each lesson will have a lecture component and the lab component of working with a text and discussing it.
